The Edge Credit Union Goes Green: Staff Plant Trees at FIDA Ghana Office
Thursday, 20th August 2026, staff of The Edge Credit Union spent part of the day planting trees at the office of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Ghana, Madina, Accra.
It was a small gesture, but one with a clear purpose. Beyond the environmental value of adding more greenery to the area, the exercise ties into the UN Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 5 on gender equality and SDG 13 on climate action, giving two organizations working toward similar goals a chance to actually show up for each other.
FIDA Ghana has long been known for its legal advocacy and work getting women access to justice. The Edge Credit Union's own focus isn't far off, 65% of the businesses it serves are SMEs led by women, and financial empowerment for those women is central to what the Credit Union does. Legal protection and financial access tend to go hand in hand for women trying to build something of their own, so a joint activity like this made sense.
Staff from both sides turned up and got their hands dirty planting trees on the FIDA Ghana compound, a small but practical contribution to a greener, more sustainable Madina. It wasn't a big event, just a practical way to mark a partnership that's about more than paperwork.
The Edge Credit Union states it will continue to support initiatives that contribute to community development and sustainability, and plans further collaborative activities with partner organizations.
